Get Good Drums

Mix-ready modern-metal drums that sit in the wall, not against it.

Modern metal lives or dies on the drums, and for Away the kit came from Get Good Drums. The pitch is simple: load a preset and the kick and snare already sit in a dense, high-gain mix instead of fighting it. That alone saves hours.

The kick is the tell. In a wall of quad-tracked guitar a lot of metal kicks just vanish; GGD's samples cut without me carving a hole with EQ first. Round-robins and velocity layers keep fast double-kick passages from machine-gunning into one flat tone. It is not a deep sampler — if you want to redesign a kit from the ground up, look elsewhere — but as the fastest route to a convincing modern-metal kit in Logic, it is the one I keep reaching for.
